Remembering Marlene Dietrich

Posted on
May 5, 2012

‍Today was the ¬†20th anniversary of Marlene Dietrichs death who died at the age of 90 at her Paris apartment on May 6 1992.

Arguably one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the silver screen, actress Marlene Dietrich utilized her cat-shaped eyes, high cheekbones, and halo of blonde curls to capture the imagination of fans both male and female.

‍

Born in Berlin, where she also became a huge star during the silent movie era  she decided to immigrate in the early years of Nazi dictatorship to the USA,  becoming an american citizen in 1937.

Later in life Marlene reinvented herself as a singer and solo performer.

She toured Australia a  numerous times. Unfortunately it was also here where her stage career came to an end when she fell off the stage and broke her leg at a performance in Sydney.

To see Marlene Dietrich perform live in Melbourne follow the link: TV Magic of Marlene Melbourne Okt 1965 from Aztec Television Enterprises filmed at the Princess Hotel.

The German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung published wonderful photos of her with short comments about her life to commemorate the anniversary of her death.
