Our holiday VCE workshop was a great success and a lot of fun. Thank you Everyone!!!!

One of the topics covered was the correct use of the German time conjunctions wenn and als. The correct use is not as hard as it seems. Please continue reading for a wrap-up when to use which form of when in German.

Wenn is used with the present tense for momentary, non recurring actions.

Wenn is also used with the present tense as well as with all past tense forms for recurring actions.

Please note: Immer or jedesmal can be placed before wenn for emphasis.

Als is used for non recurring actions in the past tense.

For a quick self test follow this link: Bitte ergaenzen; wenn oder als!
